Who we are
Our Practice Areas
Immigration and Refugee Law
We are highly equipped to handle immigration and refugee matters. As immigrants
ourselves, we understand the anxiety,
and in some cases trauma, associated with the entire process of immigrating to Canada, having
gone through the same
process ourselves. We approach our clients’ matter as if their lives depend on it because they
surely do in many
instances. Among other things, we help our clients with packaging such applications as Study
Permit Visa, Visiting Visa,
Permanent Residence, Sponsorship, Investor Visa, and Provincial Nomination Program. We also
offer representation either
before the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada or the Federal Courts.
Criminal Law
We are criminal defence attorneys. We recognise the exposure to which a person
charged with criminal offence faces and
we do our utmost best to either eliminate or mitigate such exposure. We defend a wide range of
criminal offences
including murder and manslaughter.
Family Law
Generally speaking, family law matters present very unique set of challenges. For
instance, the process of separation or
divorce can be one of the most difficult times in the lives of persons involved. It is for this
reason that we handle
this genre of matters with the care and expertise that it deserves. We provide representation in
all family matters such
as Domestic Contracts (Marriage Contracts, Separation & Cohabitation Agreements), divorce,
property division, custody
and access matters, representation in court, variation hearings, child and spousal support &
default hearings, and child
protection proceedings
Mental Health Law
Mental health law is a very challenging aspect of law practice, as it lies at the
intersection of the protection of the
right of vulnerable person – specifically mentally impaired persons – to take decisions
concerning their medical
treatment, and the assumption of such right by the state following its determination that a
person no longer has the
capacity to make such decision. A mental impairment could arise from several causes such as
dementia, brain injuries,
developmental or intellectual disabilities. In Ontario, there are basically three legislations
that govern consent and
capacity and mental health law: the Health Care Consent Act, the Mental Health Act and the
Substitute Decisions Act. A
determination by the state that a person lacks the mental capacity to take decision concerning
his or her medical
treatment often results in legal challenge by the person affect, and this is litigated before
the Consent and Capacity
Board (CCB). We offer our representation before this Board.
Civil Litigation
We provide qualitative legal services to persons involved in civil claims arising
from either contractual obligations or
tort. We are experienced in both out-of-court settlement (alternative dispute resolution) and
litigation. We are very
aggressive in the pursuit of our clients’ claims or defence. Because civil matters are time
sensitive due to operation
of the Limitation Act, we encourage you to contact us if you believe you have a claim but are
not clear whether or not
your claim is already statute barred.
Notary Services
We offer the following services: notarization and commissioning of documents under
oaths, drafting of affidavits and
statutory declarations, and marriage contracts, including cohabitation and prenuptial
agreements.
